GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Communities across North Central Florida marked Memorial Day with ceremonies honoring service members who died while serving their country.
ALACHUA COUNTY
In Gainesville, city and Alachua County leaders gathered at Evergreen Cemetery, where more than 1,100 service members are buried. Volunteers placed flags on veterans’ graves ahead of the commemoration.
BRADFORD COUNTY
A new veterans park opened in Starke in time for a Memorial Day event. Veterans and relatives of fallen service members attended, including the family of Staff Sgt. Seth Plant.
