HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — Tammy Guido McGee has been fighting to make a difference in the lives of teen drivers for years.
In 2019, her only son, Conner, got into a car with an unlicensed, underage driver.
Va. mom seeks to strengthen driver’s license requirements
“This driver showed up, offered Conner a ride, and he hopped into the front seat, invited his friend to hop into the back seat,” she said. “And who would have thought that a one-mile drive would wind up taking the lives of three young teenagers? But he left the parking lot during twice the legal speed limit in less than 500 yards.”
Since then, she’s traveled to schools and club meetings educating young drivers and parents about the risks on the road, especially during the summer when kids are off at home, and parents are at work…
