Upgrades coming to viewing area along Illinois 2 near Oregon

OGLE COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR/WREX) – A project is underway to improve the way people take in the scenery along the Rock River near Oregon.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says work began May 26 to add mounted binoculars on an ADA-accessible island to the viewing area along Illinois Route 2.

The viewing area allows drivers to stop and park to see the Chief Black Hawk Statue across the river in Lowden State Park…
