Man shot and killed by Spokane Police following domestic violence call identified

SPOKANE, Wash. — A man who was shot and killed by Spokane police following a domestic violence incident on May 21 has been identified by the Spokane County Medical Examiner as 28-year-old Kaleb Hassel.

According to the Spokane Police Department, officers received a call around 5 a.m. that morning from an out-of-state family member reporting a disturbance at a home on North Cincinnati Street. Police were able to contact the wife, who was in the residence, and were informed that her husband, Hassel, was armed with a gun.

Officers entered the scene after hearing an altercation and witnessed a physical struggle between the husband and wife. Officers tried to intervene, but after a brief struggle, an officer fired his weapon, and Hassel was pronounced dead on the scene…
