Shaker Heights man diagnosed with dementia missing; walked out of nursing home

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — Shaker Heights authorities are asking the public to look out for a 69-year-old man reported missing on Tuesday night, May 26, after walking out of his nursing home.

Michael Garrett is described as a Black man standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a hospital gown, diaper and possible a suit jacket, according to an alert from the Attorney General’s Office.

Garrett reportedly left the nursing home along Northfield Road in Shaker Heights, at about 9 p.m., Tuesday, with an unknown destination. He had not yet returned as of 12:47 a.m. on Wednesday.

Garrett suffers from dementia and anxiety and mood swings, according to the alert.
