Solvang Film Society will bring an end to the six-year dry spell for movie-goers in Santa Ynez Valley when it opens its 49-seat arthouse theater June 1 at 320 Alisal Rd., the former home of Space VR Solvang.
“I want to offer films we can’t get in the metroplex. Everyone can get a Star Wars film at the mall. I don’t want to be that, as much as I love Star Wars,” said Solvang Film Society founder Jamie Baker.
Instead, the theater has secured more than half a dozen unspecified films a bit off the main stream for the space’s 9-foot- by- 16-foot screen with a high-end, five-speaker, theatrical sound system…
