Plan to redevelop downtown St. Louis riverfront moves ahead despite fire that destroyed key buildings

Developers behind a riverfront redevelopment project in downtown St. Louis say it is moving ahead slowly, despite a major fire at key buildings last year.

The 100-acre, $1.2 billion Gateway South redevelopment plan hit a roadblock late last year when a fire destroyed a large portion of the Crunden-Martin buildings. The buildings were eyed as a focal point of the redevelopment plan.

Good Developments Group received $155 million of industrial revenue bonds from the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority Board in June 2024 for the project. The developers asked the board on Tuesday for more time on key goals after the fire hindered their plans…
