After nearly 30 years serving Rotterdam, Johnny C’s Pizzeria and Family Restaurant is getting ready to close its doors for good at the end of the month. Owner John Ciancetta shared the news on Facebook, saying the restaurant’s final day will be May 31st.
Ciancetta said what started as a small Italian restaurant grew into a longtime community gathering spot where families celebrated milestones, friends met for pizza and wings, and regulars looked forward to traditions like the popular Wednesday chicken parm special.
What Will Replace The Space?
According to the Daily Gazette, the Altamont Avenue property was connected to a proposed redevelopment project that could include a quick-service restaurant and coffee shop.
Possible tenants mentioned in the report included Chipotle Mexican Grill and 7 Brew Coffee. It remains unclear what role the restaurant property will play in the project.
