‘It’s hard to speak’: Lubbock-Cooper student back in the Hub City recovering from stroke

LUBBOCK, Texas — Weeks after their healthy 17-year-old son suffered a sudden and unexpected stroke, the Voss family hopes sharing his story will raise awareness about strokes happening to young teens.

EverythingLubbock.com previously reported on Britton Voss, a 17-year-old junior at Lubbock-Cooper High School who suffered from a stroke in early May.

“We just want his story to maybe spur more questions for parents who are facing a similar situation or maybe help recognize the signs and symptoms of a stroke in young adults, teenagers and children because they don’t always present the same,” Elise Voss, Chief Nursing Officer at Trust Point Rehabilitation Hospital and Britton Voss’ mother. “But there are key neurological symptoms that are always present. Maybe, if that awareness is out there, we can help someone get treatment quicker.”…
