Drivers should avoid this stretch of I-81 in Cumberland County on June 1: Here’s why

Motorists traveling through Hampden Township should expect lane restrictions and delays on Interstate 81 and Route 581 on June 1 as crews conduct bridge inspections.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced the work will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Inspectors will examine two bridge structures in Cumberland County: the southbound I-81 off-ramp to Route 581 at Exit 59, which crosses over northbound I-81, and the westbound Route 581 ramp to southbound I-81 at Exit 1B.
