A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to decades in prison after prosecutors said he helped his girlfriend fatally abuse her 18-month-old daughter inside their Chester apartment in 2021.
Pennsylvania Man Sentenced in Child Abuse Death Case
Authorities said 34-year-old Maurice Davis was sentenced last week to 24½ to 50 years in prison for his role in the death of 18-month-old Li’Aziah Thomas.
According to court records, Davis pleaded no contest to:
- Aggravated assault
- Endangering the welfare of a child
- Conspiracy to commit third-degree murder
The case stems from the child’s death on Jan. 20, 2021, in Chester.
Toddler Found Dead Inside Apartment
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Delaware County Daily Times, police found Li’Aziah unresponsive on the floor of her mother’s apartment.
Investigators reported the child:
- Had no pulse
- Was cold to the touch
- Showed signs of rigor mortis
Authorities later determined the toddler had likely been dead for several hours before police were contacted.
