The Tuesday, May 26 meeting of the Madison City Council included extended discussions about properties in the city that are at some point in the process to address unsafe and/or derelict buildings in the city. The first action was the acceptance of bids on the properties located at 1431, 1435, 1437 and 1439 Second Street.
These properties have gone through several steps to allow the city to sell the properties as surplus. As such, the properties were opened to bidders. The bids were opened Monday with one bid submitted by Kevin McFarland in the amount of $2,130. This being the minimum allowable bid, McFarland’s bid was accepted.
Another property that had previously been classified as surplus property was located at 1133 Reynolds Street. That property was the site of a groundbreaking on May 27.
