From a steady rain to showers and downpours, Kansas is gaining some beneficial rain the last 24 hours!
An area of low pressure is meandering over the Plains. Some of the downpours became more pronounced with the heating of the day.
This will slowly lift to the northeast into the night, churning additional showers in the path. Activity will generally shift to the northeast with time.
If rain continues to target the same location repeatedly, we may run into an isolated flooding issue.
Lows tonight will fall to the 50s in the west with the 60s across our central and eastern counties.
Showers will linger to the northeast early Friday morning. New activity will be monitored over Southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma Panhandle by evening.
These storms will track to the northeast. Timing will be important regarding the Riverfest Sundown Parade and other evening events. If the timing stays consistent, we should get the parade in dry. However, activities that run later into the night may face storms coming up from the southwest.
There is a Marginal Risk outlined for large hail and damaging winds. Additional storms may clip northwest Kansas into the overnight, coming out of Wyoming and Northeast Colorado.
Areas northeast favor the 70s for highs tomorrow whereas the rest of our viewing area gets back to the 80s.
Showers will still be ongoing to the northeast early Saturday. Highs will be warmer in the 80s with some nearing 90 degrees over the southwest. Attention will then shift to a new batch of storms over the heart of Kansas by early Saturday evening.
A Marginal Risk is drawn for damaging wind and large hail potential. Storms look to develop west of Wichita back to the northwest.
This tracks northeast with any remaining rain exiting early Sunday morning. The rest of the weekend looks dry and hotter. The 80s continue to thrive with a few more breaching the 90 degree mark near the Oklahoma state line.
Monday and Tuesday look to turn active again with higher chances for storms pushing east by midweek.
The second half of next week becomes quieter after a busy beginning. Highs will be consistently warm in the 80s. The second half of next week will be slightly less humid than how it starts.
