Clarksville man found guilty of stealing more than $60,000 from blind elderly uncle

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A 78-year-old blind man’s trust in his nephew cost him more than $60,000, after a jury found the nephew guilty in under an hour of stealing through unauthorized cash withdrawals from the uncle’s individual retirement account.

Roman Jachim, 51, of Clarksville, was trusted by his elderly blind uncle, Gary Jachim, 78, to manage the uncle’s finances through a legal arrangement known as power of attorney.

Instead of using that authority to help his uncle, Roman used it to steal more than $60,000 from the uncle’s individual retirement account…
