MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — People living near the site of a proposed limestone quarry on Warrenton Road in Marshall County are raising the alarm, concerned that the site will harm their property and quality of life.
At a meeting for public comment with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) on Thursday, several members of the community asked the representatives with the state agency to halt the project.

Many who spoke described their community as a quiet place where they have lived, farmed, and gone to church for decades.
