MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Safe Task Force says it has arrested more than 1,000 known gang members since it began operations last September.
That is nearly 10% of the operation’s total number of arrests, authorities say. Nearly 50 gangs are operating in Memphis, including both national and neighborhood gangs.
“Ousting these gang members from their neighborhoods makes communities safer and gangs weaker,” said Marshal Tyreece Miller, U.S. Marshal for the District of Western Tennessee.
