Auto enthusiasts will head to Tuscumbia, movie buffs will gather in Huntsville, and fishermen will be casting their rods into the Gulf this week. If you find you don’t fit into any of these categories, rest assured, there are plenty of other events that will be sure to strike some interest. Whether you are looking for a weekend road trip, a new local tradition or simply an excuse to spend some time outside, this week’s lineup of events offers a little something for everyone.

Muscle Shoals Street Rod Run-Tuscumbia

Classic cars, chrome details and southern summer tradition come together at the 55th annual Muscle Shoals Area Street Rod Run on June 6 at Spring Park. The longtime event welcomes all vehicle models through 1996 and will feature cash prizes, a wipeout board, a 50/50 drawing and a free swap meet for attendees to browse throughout the day. Gates open at 7 a.m. with the show running until 2 p.m., making it an easy Saturday stop for car enthusiasts and families alike. Registration is $20 at the gate, and a rain date is scheduled for June 13.

Locustgrass Festival–Bluegrass on the River- Hayden

Fans of bluegrass music can make their way to Hayden this weekend for the annual Locustgrass Bluegrass on the River festival at River Hills Retreat. The two-day gathering will feature live performances from groups including Three on a String, Mountain Highway and The Alan Tolbert Unit, along with camping, jamming sessions and vendors throughout the weekend. Gates open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with indoor stage performances running through the evening, creating a laid-back atmosphere for music lovers looking to spend a summer day outdoors.

Rodeo & Rhythm at Greensport-Ashville

June 5-6th

Trade the usual Friday night plans for bucking broncos and live music at Rodeo & Rhythm at Greensport in Ashville on June 5 and 6. Held at Greensport Marina, the family-friendly event will feature professional rodeo competitions from Broken Arrow Rodeo Productions, including bull riding, barrel racing and bronco riding, followed by live music, food and drinks along the waterfront. Events begin at 7 p.m. each night, with tickets priced at $20 for adults and $15 for minors, while children under 10 get in free.
