CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Canyon ISD officials say rising operational costs and stagnant state funding are forcing the district to make difficult financial decisions ahead of the next school year.
Canyon ISD Superintendent Darryl Flusche discussed the district’s current budget challenges, changes being made across campuses and departments, and concerns about the future of public school funding in Texas.
Flusche said districts across the state are facing financial pressure as inflation continues driving up the costs of daily operations, while state funding levels have remained largely unchanged since 2019.
