Overdose deaths in US drop, but climb high again in Denver, state

DENVER — Drug overdose deaths are dropping across the U.S., but not in Colorado.

After a reprieve in 2024, both Denver and the state’s overdose numbers are climbing once again in 2025.

“They did increase in 2025,” said Lisa Raville, executive director with the Harm Reduction Action Center. “March and May had 63 drug-related deaths right here in Denver. That’s the most ever that we’ve ever seen in Denver, which is incredibly problematic.”…
