Eugene Airport gets $2M for new baggage screening system

EUGENE, Ore. – Nine Oregon airports will receive nearly $14.5 million in federal funding for infrastructure improvements.

Portland International Airport will get the largest share at more than $10.6 million. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the money will go toward rehabilitating 1,425 feet of runway, renovating restrooms, improving wayfinding, replacing moving walkways and constructing a children’s play area. The funding will also support reconstructing 153,500 square feet of terminal concourses including roofing and exterior work.

Eugene Airport will receive $2 million to build a new outbound baggage system with a screening area. Airport Director Cathryn Stephens said the new inline baggage screening facility will modernize terminal operations and create a more seamless experience for passengers…
