Judge dismisses Kenner candidates’ lawsuit over alleged voting issues

KENNER, La. (WGNO) —  Following Baton Rouge Judge Victor Gregoire’s order of a “stay” of proceedings in the joint lawsuit filed by Kenner mayoral candidate Diane Schnell and Kenner District 1 Council candidate David Weathersby, both were back in Jefferson Parish.

In the lawsuit, plaintiffs contest the Kenner election results, alleging Louisiana’s recount process is unconstitutional.

After a recount, it was determined that Schnell fell short of a runoff by only 20 ballots, and Weathersby lost his race by only six votes.
