Fatal 2020 stabbing leads to life sentence for New Orleans man

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office announced the verdict in a 2020 murder case.

On May 21, OPDA office officials announced, Francisco Romero will serve life without the possibility of parole, probation or suspension of sentence for the stabbing death of Daniel Dowd.

On Nov. 19, 2020, the New Orleans Police Department was called in response to an aggravated battery by cutting in the 1800 block of Chippewa Street. Upon arrival, officers found Dowd suffering from multiple stab wounds.

He died from his injuries despite life saving efforts. A second victim was also found with “a serious laceration” but survived…
