New trial for damages ordered in 2013 Taft school shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A new trial has been ordered in an ongoing legal dispute between the Taft Union High School District and the city of Taft following a 2013 school shooting that severely injured a student.

On Jan. 10, 2013, then-Taft Union High School student Bryan Oliver shot and severely injured another student, Bowe Cleveland, with a shotgun.

Both Oliver and Cleveland were 16 years old.

Cleveland was shot in the chest and had to undergo more than 30 surgeries…
