Dangerous pest from Mexico found in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – For the second time in less than a year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection intercepted a dangerous and rare pest at a port in Arizona.

On May 8, CBP agriculture specialists found Polyamia arachnion Kramer in a shipment of leafy greens at the Area Port of Nogales. It is only the second time the pest has been seen in America in the last 69 years. In both cases, the pests came from central Mexico.

A similar thing happened in October 2025, when agriculture specialists discovered an Osbornellus salsus at the Port of San Luis for the first time…
