Eileen Wang, the former mayor of Arcadia, Calif., pleaded guilty to secretly acting as an agent of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on Friday, May 29.
Wang’s plea comes nearly three weeks after she was charged with the felony count in a federal court on May 11, the U.S. Attorney’s Office – Central District of California said in a news release at the time. She stepped down from her role that same day, the city announced.
Wang, 58, appeared in court and entered a guilty plea on Friday, per KTLA, ABC 7 and CBS News. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 6 and is facing up to 10 years in federal prison…
