An opening date has been announced for the second ALDI store in The Villages.
The ALDI supermarket at La Plaza Grande in the Spanish Springs area will hold a ribbon cutting at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, June 11. Shoppers will be welcomed in the store after the ribbon cutting.
This is the second Winn-Dixie in The Villages to be converted to an ALDI store. Last year, fans began lining up at 4:15 a.m. on the opening day of the ALDI at Lake Sumter Landing. The Winn-Dixie is still operating at Pinellas Plaza in The Villages. A timetable for its ALDI conversion has not been announced.
While the brand-new interior reflects ALDI’s no-frills, cost-saving layout, the building’s exterior retains the classic Spanish-themed architecture that has long defined La Plaza Grande. The building itself is 46,400 square feet, with the new ALDI utilizing 22,544 square feet. The remaining 23,856 square feet is designated for a “future tenant” whose identity has not yet been revealed…
