Today I had a conversation about the ways that transportation has changed over the years, and it ended with talk of driverless cars.
“Trains, Planes and Automobiles,” the silly movie starring John Candy and Steve Martin, came to mind, and as usual, my thoughts moved to the art world. The very recent exhibition at the Saint Louis Art Museum, “Roaring Art, Fashion and the Automobile, in France, before the Second World War,β showcased a period of time that recognized the automobile not just as a means of transport, but as a profound influencer of contemporary culture encompassing art, fashion and design.
