Gemworks Fine Jewelers works hard to be anything but your run-of-the-mill jewelry store. For one, as they specialize in custom created orders, shoppers can’t stop by and pick up any old pair of earrings for a last-minute present. For another, there aren’t dozens of employees, meaning you won’t drop your jewelry off with one person and pick it up from another.
At Gemworks, owners Meaghan LaPrath and Nic Brotherton, plus their dog Josie, are the only employees. They intentionally work by appointment to give each customer the time they deserve, whether the project involves fixing a chain, resizing a ring, replacing a watch battery or designing and creating a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry from scratch.
LaPrath, a Graduate Gemologist, AJP (GIA), and Brotherton, a Jewelers of America-Certified Master Bench Jeweler, love it when people come in with design ideas, but they don’t expect their customers to know everything…
