MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WIFR) – An adaptive bike expo Sunday brought together experts and local residents with special needs to help make biking more accessible.
The first-of-its-kind Audrey Cismesia Special Needs Bike Expo was held from noon to 4 p.m., May 31, in the parking lot of Harlem High School, 9229 N. Alpine Road.
The event was organized by Amanda and Jeff Cismesia, in honor of their late daughter Audrey Cismesia who had a love for biking.
“Audrey loved being outside, being with her friends. Something that we really tried was getting adaptive equipment and things that worked for her, figuring out what met her needs. That can often be challenging for families, so we decided to start this event,” Amanda said. “Inclusion is definitely important. We want to make sure everyone is able to do this.”…
