The heat is on today

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Meteorologist Jake Dunne says last night’s storms are gone, and the day ahead looks dry, albeit hot and muggy. Mainly sunny skies will take temperatures into the lower 90s this afternoon, and when you factor in the humidity it will feel a degree or two hotter.

Monday will be just as hot and humid as today before a cold front sweeps across the state. Showers and storms will start over western Kansas tomorrow afternoon, and then they will move east Monday night into Tuesday morning. While widespread severe weather is unlikely, some storms will be strong with heavy rain, small hail, and gusty winds.

Expect slightly cooler temperatures in the lower to middle 80s, the remainder of the week to be accompanied by mainly dry conditions as well. Another weather maker arriving next weekend will bring storm chances back to the state, though the exact timing and severity remain uncertain…
