BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Fans of Mexican boxing star Canelo Alvarez packed an east Bakersfield grocery store on Monday, June 1, after he made a surprise appearance that drew hundreds of people hoping to meet him and take a photo.
Alvarez showed up unannounced at the FoodMaxx on Niles Street around 2 p.m., where a long line formed outside the store. The meet-and-greet was limited to the first 100 shoppers.
“I’ve been out here since nine in the morning. I was first in line, so been out here a bit, but I’m really excited,” said Alondra Moreno, a Canelo fan.
