BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Library kicked off its 2026 Summer Reading Challenge Monday.
Officials with the library said this year’s theme is “Plant a Seed, Read,” and celebrates growth, curiosity and connection through nature and hands-on learning that is inspired by food, gardening and the natural world.
Readers of all ages can get involved by reading 10 books or reading 10 hours to receive a free book from the “Friends of the Kern County Library.”…
