157 arrested as Charlotte region operation seizes 560 pounds of drugs, 110 guns

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Officials said Monday that 157 people were arrested during a months-long law enforcement surge across the Charlotte region, where nearly 560 pounds of drugs and 110 guns were seized.

The district attorney’s office announced Monday, June 1, that “Operation Spring Cleaning,” a coordinated three-month, multi-agency enforcement surge, also resulted in 56 of those suspects facing federal charges.

Officials said the operation targeted violent offenders, drug traffickers, armed felons, and fugitives, who they say were responsible for spreading deadly drugs, driving gun violence, and increasing crime across district and state lines…
