North East Community Welcome Nations of Patriots Tour

The Nations of Patriots Tour made a stop in Erie County on Monday as part of its mission to escort an American flag through all 50 states in honor of the nation’s veterans, service members, and fallen heroes.

As the group rolled into North East, members of the tour were welcomed by a sea of red, white, and blue as students from the North East School District lined the route to show their support.

“I am a big advocate and supporter of veterans and all those serving, and I think it’s very important that we do support and give back to our veterans,” said Dr. Michelle Hartezell, the Superintendent of the North East School District.

Erie County was the 17th stop on the nationwide journey. After crossing from Ohio into Pennsylvania, the tour traveled through the elementary and high school campuses before arriving at the Mellon Heritage Veterans Outreach Center in North East.

Motorcyclists and veterans joined the procession for the final leg of the trip.

“It was nice to see all the different groups and veterans that we ride for show up and see why we are doing this,” said Keith Mayo, the organizer of the event…
