Emergency crews reported several trees and power lines down in Limestone and Morgan counties as storms moved through the area on Monday afternoon.
According to Decatur Utilities, more than 4,000 customers are without power. Crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible. Officials remind residents to treat all downed power lines as if they are still energized and not to move them or drive over them. Drivers are reminded to treat an intersection with power out as a four-way stop unless police are directing traffic.
Hartselle Utilities reported more than 1,000 were without power while Joe Wheeler EMC reported 3,000 customers without power.
Alabama State Troopers say multiple trees fell across the roadway on Highway 72 near Cox Road in Limestone County. All lanes of Highway 72 in the area were closed while crews worked to clear debris.
