DES MOINES, Iowa — A dog was shot after police say it attacked a man and sent him to a hospital with serious injuries.

Just before 1 p.m., the Des Moines police and fire departments responded to a report of a dog bite in the 1600 block of 30th Street. According to the DMPD, crews found that a 63-year-old man had been bitten several times by a dog while trying to feed it.
The 63-year-old was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
As the dog attacked the man, the DMPD said another adult in the home shot the dog with a shotgun. The DMPD said the dog is receiving emergency veterinary care. A second dog was found inside and is in the custody of Animal Services…
