Lincoln woman navigating disability says Medicaid work rules add stress

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services said its staff has been able to manage new Medicaid work requirements with a marginal increase in workload and no additional staffing.

It comes after Gov. Jim Pillen announced in December that Nebraska would be the first state to implement the new Medicaid work requirements outlined in H.R. 1, also known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” on May 1 — a full eight months ahead of the federal deadline.
