Gateway Commission awards contract for New Jersey approach to Hudson Tunnel

NEW YORK — The Gateway Development Commission has awarded another major contract for the Hudson Tunnel Project, this one addressing the surface approach to the tunnel in New Jersey.

Construction Package 3: The New Jersey Surface Alignment was awarded at a meeting today (June 1) to a Skanska Creamer Sanzari NJSA joint venture. The $711.7 million contract covers construction of approximately 1.5 miles of infrastructure to connect the tunnel to the existing Northeast Corridor rail line. Construction is expected to begin this year.

GDC CEO Tom Prendergast said in a press release that the contract award is “another important milestone for the Hudson Tunnel Project and further evidence of the momentum we are building across our construction program. Seven of the construction packages that make up the Hudson Tunnel Project are now in progress or completed, and we are firing on all cylinders at our construction sites in New York and New Jersey.”…
