Woman accused of DWI after crash causes power outage in North Carolina; 2 seriously hurt

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman is facing charges after a crash that knocked out power and sent two people to the hospital early Monday morning in Raleigh’s Five Points area.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, the crash happened on Whitaker Mill Road near Glenwood Avenue.

Investigators said a vehicle was traveling southwest on Whitaker Mill Road at a high rate of speed and “in an erratic manner” when it struck a power pole on the south side of the roadway. After hitting the pole, the vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof.

The driver, identified as 29-year-old Chelsey Floyd, and a front-seat passenger suffered serious injuries and were taken to WakeMed for treatment. Police said both are currently in stable condition…
