TOLEDO, Ohio — A bright fireball meteor lit up the night sky Monday across northern Ohio and southern Michigan, generating hundreds of reports from skywatchers across the region.
The meteor was spotted at about 10:42 p.m. and was seen streaking across northern Ohio with a brilliant flash before continuing toward southern Michigan. According to early reports, the object’s path may have taken it directly over Toledo.
Witnesses from at least eight states and Ontario reported seeing the fireball. Observers said the meteor visibly fragmented as it crossed the sky, with the streak reportedly lasting as long as seven seconds…
