KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knox County commissioners spent nearly 90 minutes Monday reviewing Mayor Glenn Jacobs’ proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year — a spending plan that exceeds $1 billion and includes no new tax increases.
In the proposed budget, nearly 67 cents of every county tax dollar would be directed toward education funding, and it includes a 3% pay raise for all county employees. The budget also represents a 2.8% increase over last year’s spending plan.
