Hudson County Schools of Technology Community Resource Center (HCST CRC) employees told the county commissioners they they’re losing their jobs based on “incomplete information” and “incorrect audit findings.”
This followed an intense discussion at the May 27 caucus meeting, where HCST officials squared off with the commissioners over program and staffing cuts made in the vocational school district’s 2026-2027 school year budget, as only HCV reported.
At the prior meeting this month, Commissioners Bill O’Dea (D-2) and Kenny Kopacz (D-1) sounded the alarm on cuts made to vital post-secondary career programs.
“I’m glad he corrected himself, but I was a bit offended when an attorney comes and tells an elected official who’s going to vote on their budget that they need to file an OPRA request to get information as to individuals that have been hired there over the last 24 months to determine why they’ve taken an approach to lay off or let people go in a manner that didn’t make any sense to me,” O’Dea said about his exchange with HCST counsel Jonathan Busch at caucus…
