LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin has been ordered to turn over financial records in an ongoing family court case or face arrest and 60 days in jail, according to a June 1 court order.
At a hearing on May 29, the court said Matt Bevin appeared by Zoom even though he had been ordered to show up in person. According to Spectrum News 1’s partner, the Kentucky Lantern, Bevin told the court he missed the hearing because a boulder crashed into a home he owns in Maine.
Judge Angela J. Johnson said the court had reminded the parties about that requirement and found Bevin in contempt for failing to appear as ordered. The court imposed what the order described as its standard sentence for failure to appear: 14 days in jail or a $250 fine.
