WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – We are waking up showers and storms across central and eastern Kansas, and while the severe threat has diminished, pockets of lighting and heavy rain remain. Expect the activity to end by midday leaving us mostly cloudy and cooler this afternoon with highs in the lower 80s.
The next batch of storms will start over western Kansas this afternoon/evening and then move east tonight. However, most of the activity will stay along and west of I-135, and while a few strong storms are possible, widespread severe weather is not expected. A similar event is likely late Wednesday into early Thursday.
Our next statewide storm system is scheduled to arrive this weekend, though a few storms are possible across northern Kansas on Friday night. While showers, storms, and areas of heavy rainfall are a safe bet, the exact timing and strength remain uncertain…
