BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man who said he used a small fishing knife to defend himself after being attacked while attempting to retrieve stolen belongings was acquitted Monday of a felony assault charge, according to Kern County Public Defender’s Office.
A jury found 32-year-old Moises Rebolledo not guilty of assault with a deadly weapon. He’d faced up to seven years in prison.
“The evidence told the true story,” Rebolledo’s attorney, Deputy Public Defender Jennifer Melgar, said in a release. “The surveillance video, witness testimony and surrounding circumstances showed that my client acted in self-defense and was not the aggressor.”…
