Proposed used car lot on Indy’s northeast side draws opposition

INDIANAPOLIS — A petitioner is asking the Indianapolis Metropolitan Board of Zoning Appeals to grant an exception to city zoning rules that would allow a used car lot on the city’s northeast side, but many neighbors are pushing back.

Residents have launched a petition opposing the proposal, which has already collected more than 500 signatures. Their concerns center largely on the location of the proposed business at 3002 E. 56th Street.

The site sits next to Polly Panda, a licensed preschool, and just steps from a residential block on Parker Avenue, where many homes have stood for nearly a century. The property is currently zoned C-3, or neighborhood commercial…
