Former RIC staffer avoids prison time in hidden camera case

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A former Rhode Island College employee accused of placing a hidden camera on campus has been granted a deferred sentence.

Dean Faiola, 51, was arrested February 2025 after a student discovered a camera tucked next to a sprinkler head in the ceiling of a bathroom on the second floor of the Donovan Dining Center.

Investigators were able to trace the lens to Faiola and found an app on his cell phone, where several video clips with footage from inside the restroom were saved. Police said at least five people were captured “in various states of undress.”…
