An 18-year-old Iowa City resident has been sentenced for his role in a targeted shooting.
Moayed Elsid, of Iowa City, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting an Iowa City woman in the stomach around 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 3, 2025.
Elsid was found guilty of assault by a jury trial on April 3. His co-defendant, Nathaniel Washington, has yet to go to trial for his alleged role in the 2025 shooting. Elsid was originally charged with attempted murder, but the jury reduced the charge to assault…
