ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – Fifty-four new affordable housing units opened at The Lafayette Apartments in downtown Rockford. This opening coincides with the Rockford City Council’s approval of plans for a separate 300-unit housing complex in the city.
The Lafayette Apartments project represents the transformation of the former Lafayette Hotel, which was originally built in 1926 on Mulberry Street.
