Beloit man accused of firing machine gun in car during traffic stop

BELOIT – A Beloit man faces charges of possessing a machine gun after police say he shot a modified Glock pistol through the floor of a vehicle during a traffic stop in Beloit.

Police identified Joseph Lee Parker III, 21, as a passenger in a car police stopped on on 6th Street in Beloit on May 26 after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign.

After the officer explained why he stopped the vehicle and was running the occupants’ IDs, he heard a “loud pop,” and saw the driver jump out of the vehicle and exclaim, “What the f—?” according to a criminal complaint filed in Rock County Court…
